Peace processes, violence, and de facto states: introduction

چکیده
Only a quarter of outcomes armed conflicts that ended during the first two decades 21st century resulted from negotiated peace or ceasefire agreements. While comprehensive, final, and conclusive agreements are in relative decline, ceasefires, limited, partial, accords, local proliferate. The dynamics peacemaking critical interplay talks violence processes become increasingly nonlinear, complex, unpredictable. In this special issue, mix actors, factors at interface is narrowed down to contexts involve de facto states, most whom experience both an ongoing stalemated process recurring different types varying degree intensity. article provides analytical context for issue discusses basic terminology concepts, such as “peace processes” “de states”, some global data-based trends research literature on volume‟s subject. part focuses violence, second one looks into “state art” while third presents summary of, including main take-off from, authors‟ contributions issue.
